Cloud Advisory Services – Public, Private or Hybrid
What's a cloud and why does it matter? In its simplest form, the cloud is a bunch of servers, storage, networking hardware and software connected to the internet. And the cloud is revolutionizing computing by simultaneously reducing IT costs and increasing business agility. Innovative companies are leveraging cloud solutions to quickly deliver value to their customers, and outpace their competition. It is the future, available today.
Typically, there are three types of clouds to consider:
- Public cloud: Public clouds enable you to tap into a pool of shared resources and pay only for the resources you use.
- Private cloud: Private clouds offer similar capabilities to public clouds, but they run on dedicated IT only. As a private-cloud consumer, you don’t share the underlying IT with any other company.
- Hybrid cloud: Hybrid clouds combine private and public cloud services to offer the security of private clouds and the enormous scalability of public clouds.
Within the private, public and hybrid clouds, three basic cloud services are typically provided. It helps to think of the three basic cloud services as layers — where Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) provides the foundation layer, Platform as a Service (PaaS) sits on the IaaS and Software as a Service is the top layer.
Whether you go public, private or hybrid, each presents unique challenges and requires careful up-front planning. Through our Cloud Advisory Services, we can assist you in evaluating the many options and help you develop an overall strategy for leveraging the Cloud for your organization.
